Holidays!

Barney is enjoying the school holidays as much as we are! He loves his walks so much, he can't wait to get out of the car so we have perfected a Barney grab before he takes a flying leap!
Barney is also enjoying the opportunities to play his favourite game, called " grab and run!" This involves picking up an item e.g. socks, shoes, newspapers and remote controls and running as fast as he can with his treasure, into the garden!
Today was also the first day Barney was persuaded into the small stream on our regular walk. He wasn't sure at first but eventually he dipped his paws in! Can't wait to see what he makes of the sea!

A week of making new friends!

Now Barney is out walking on a regular basis, he has made a lot of new friends-both 2 legged and 4! Everyone stops and asks what breed he is, how old he is and if I know how big he'll grow! Barney loves the attention, especially if they have a treat for him!
As for other dogs, Barney wants to play with them all although the cocker spaniels we meet over the field can definitely outrun him!
This photo shows him eating his second non-edible (supposedly) bone!

Wassup Doc?

Today when we went for a nice relaxing walk across highroids Barney went in the water for the first time whilst he was playing with two other dogs however when we tried to get him in by himself he wasnt having any of it. So we decided to give up on the water And set off back home. As we walked ahead, as always, we called him and he came galloping through the long grass like something from a film. But he was not alone, in his mouth was a moulding, rotting corpse of a rabbit. He seemed so proud and looked at us as if we were mental when we tried to get him on the lead. Eventually I managed to hook the lead onto his collar and wrench it from his mouth... If only we took the camera.

Is it just me or has the table got smaller?

Today Barney has realised he can get our food if he can reach it. Clever dog. Earlier this wasn't a problem but now that he is growing more each day he can reach the table... When we ate our tea he jumped up onto the table and tried to get some of the pizza, but he only manged to lick the crust. Too slow.

Just another day in the life of Barney

This evening Barney went across the road to our local field, by an outstanding coincidence we met Maxi from puppy training there! Turns out they live just down the road from us. Over the field there was a cricket match going on we didn't dare let him off near them, that could have been disastrous. Instead we let him off on the long jump and 100m track, part of the field where there was a family running up and down it so Barney being Barney this was an excellent opportunity to run off. When we did get back home he slept and slept and slept.

This is my bed, there are many others like it but this one is mine.

Went for a walk at golden acre again, but this time there was a difference. We met Ringo, the Labradoodle! Considering this was his first time meeting Ringo and also his first time off the lead with another dog it went quite well. But of course being a puppy he wanted to run off and explore... so he did. He must have ran a good 200m before I managed to catch him, this was only because he had stopped to play with a little terrier type thing. Other than that he was very good off the lead so we decided to treat him to a new bed!

New Bed!

Mmmmm, LEGO

In the Kitchen, trying to get some food.

Barney went to Ilkley park this morning and met some ducks, he wanted to chase them but he was on his lead. Just as well! After that he slept for a few hours so when I came home I expected him to be a giddy puppy, however he wasn't. He was quite sleepy but wouldn't pass up an opportunity to try and steal something, bite my ankles or hump my leg.

As I was typing this he has tried to eat a LEGO box...

Thursday 7 July 2011

Barney had his second walk today, after his second session at puppy training, at the Chevin park near Otley. It was his first time off the lead, he was very good. However this was probably because he was too scared to walk more than 10 metres away from us!

Barney at the Chevin.
After Puppy Training and a 20 minute walk Barney is a very very sleepy Puppy, and is asleep on the rug right now.

Barney the Bernese

This is Barney the Bernese Mountain Dog, he is 13 weeks old today! This blog is just a record of all the mad things he does. I will try hard to update this once a day with either a picture or a video... Enjoy!

In the garden, with his 2nd  "non-edible" bone.
